Position Description

XE is seeking a Chief Development Officer (CDO) to develop and lead XE’s capital raising efforts for a clean nuclear energy solution. The successful candidate will be responsible for growing the company’s investor base with qualified high net worth, ultra-high net worth, family office, and institutional investors. The CDO will be responsible for all aspects of the investment life cycle. The CDO will work with a team of professionals to create investment offerings ensuring compliance with state and federal laws and regulations. He/she will ensure that investment offerings are fully funded and close in a timely manner. The CDO will oversee investor relations and communications. The CDO will be a brand ambassador for X-Energy and, ideally, will bring to bear an existing network of investors.

 Who will be Expected to Excel at: 

  • Building relationships with our most critical and high net worth investors
  • Creating a thorough process and being diligent in improving that process
  • Being highly organized and providing strategic leadership
  • Quarterbacking execution of fundraises, including the setting and managing of timelines, responsibilities and deliverables throughout the fundraise
  • Creating relationships with key investors in X-Energy’s community and building a network of investors outside the platform that will lead to capital raising of $100m+
  • Communicating and working actively with startup founders, people across the entire team and multiple external partners


  • Grow XE’s client base of high net worth, ultra-high net worth, family office and institutional investors. You will be responsible for multiple, successive capital campaigns in the multi-hundred-million-dollar range.
  • Communicate a clear vision about our customers and the problems we solve for them,
  • Control and optimize the entire investor acquisition funnel by developing and executing marketing and investor acquisition plans and programs
  • Be able to speak intelligently and persuasively to our investors about X-Energy
  • Establish and maintain relationships with industry influencers, key strategic partners and clients and develop specific client-relations programs
  • Establish professional networks and maintain contacts and records of this activity in company CRM software
  • Plan for and ensure company presence at conventions, annual meetings, industry events and seminars
  • Develop and recommend brand positioning
  • Work with the legal and finance teams to develop offering documentation that is clear, accurate and in compliance federal and state laws and regulations
  • Create online and offline marketing materials for the company and its investment offerings
  • Achieve financial objectives by preparing marketing budgets, scheduling expenditures, analyzing variances and initiating corrective actions when necessary
  • Monitor competitor products and keep abreast of industry developments in order to inform business and marketing initiatives
  • Lead growth and development of all marketing channels
  • Develop clear and measurable goals, report progress regularly, communicate final results, and re-incorporate results to improve the next cycle
  • Drive investor acquisition costs down. Drive investor lifetime value up. Increase conversion ratios and sales

Minimum Qualifications

  • Experience raising capital from and managing relationships with high net worth, ultra-high net worth, family office and institutional investors
  • Experience in financial services, investment management, private banking, financial technology, commercial real estate, energy or a similar field
  • Demonstrated experience investor and team-oriented approach
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to think strategically, critically and analytically
  • Budget-management skills and proficiency
  • Results driven

Minimum Experience

  • BA/BS degree, advanced degree preferred
  • 6-8 years of experience in creative consulting, investment banking, project management, consulting or PE | VC
  • Strong knowledge of venture capital and entrepreneurship
  • Experience managing complex projects, timelines, campaigns, product launches, or deals (whether at an investment bank, advertising agency, design firm, or another project-based environment)
